TRAINING VISION

GROUND RULES TRAINING

The basis at our academy is that development comes before performance. The quality of the football experience and the development of the players and the team is our top priority. The importance that coaches, leaders and parents attribute to the result of youth competitions should absolutely not prevail. Paying attention to performance as a team is only starting to become important for us with the teams from 16/17 years old. The focus remains on development. In this case also in developing players to perform as a team.

The academy  has 4 phases with regard to the development of the youth players:

  1. u8 to u10          : Development of basic football skills and running technique (6:6)

  2. u11 and u12     : Development of basic football skills, running technique and

                                    Introduction to the first tactical principles (8:8)

  1. u13 to u15        :Development orientation in the field and basic and team task (9:9/11:11)

  2. u16 to u19        : Development of match- and result-oriented football (11:11)

During  the 1st phase,  the children must become masters of the ball. The main goal is to control the ball in all kinds of situations. In addition, a lot of attention should  be paid to motor (movement body) skills and walking technique.

In the 2nd phase,  the technical skills, running technique and motor skills are further developed and basic tactical principles are offered. Depending on how talented a team is, more or less tactical principles are offered. Always taking into account that the learning sequence  is as follows:

  1. football skills;

  2. basic and team tasks, including tactical principles.

From phase 3  we start to pay attention to basic and team tasks and football intelligence is also much more addressed.

The final phase (16-19 year olds) we will switch to match- and result-oriented football. The necessary attention is also paid to strength/phisical training.

In order to achieve an optimal development of our players, we combine functional technique based on 'dry' techniques with playing method training based on match real situations. By training competition situations, we want to optimize the link between technique and insight.

The principle  with us is that it is ultimately about what the player does with his technique. For that, it is important  to know the basic and team tasks and to have insight into the game, which is the most important thing in football. Without insight (football intelligence), technical skills also loses its efficiency. Insight therefore provides the basis for becoming really 'good' in football.

After players have fully mastered the functional technique and the basic and team tasks, they can switch to match- and result-oriented football  . In this phase (from U16) the age has been reached to switch to performance-oriented training and coaching. The players are technically ripe for it and the age characteristics also allow this next phase in development.
